Hanover
The 8-square-mile township, settled
by Lenape Native Americans in its pre-Colonial days, now is home
to many large corporations, retail and business enterprises.
Ridgedale Avenue, which encompasses
the downtown, has many mom-and-pop stores, from barbershops to restaurants.
Lurker Park, named after a longtime town volunteer, Joe Lurker,
is a favorite spot for picnics, swimming and ball games.

GOVERNING BODY:
Township council. Mayor Lawrence J. Colasurdo. Council President:
William Agnellino; John Depola, Susan Tietjen, and Thomas Vitiello;
meets at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the municipal
building, 411 Ridgedale Ave. In December, the meetings are the second
Monday and last Thursday, (973) 428-3095.

PARKS:
Lurker Park, off Ridgedale Avenue, has a swimming pool, five ball
fields, tennis courts, playground, horseshoe pits and Uncle Bill's
picnic grove. Sommers Park, Fairway Drive, has ball fields and basketball
court and playground equipment.
LIBRARY:
The library is currently closed for renovations. There's a book
drop inside town hall.
RECREATION:

SENIOR CITIZEN FACILITIES:
Senior Citizens Center on Mount Pleasant Avenue has events such
as monthly trips, weekly meeting.

TOWNSHIP SERVICES:
Recyclable items are picked up every other Thursday. Residents also
can bring recyclables to the environmental center at the Department
of Public Works, 8 Melanie Lane, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Bulk items furniture and brush are picked up on Mondays and Wednesdays
by appointment by calling (973) 428-3063. Leaves are picked up in
bags in November and December.
